Rockwell Park

Rockwell Park

Rockwell Park is located in the northeast corner of the Eastside neighborhood and is home to many neighborhood events in the summer like National Night Out. Rockwell is a five-acre park split into two sections by Trimble Ave. With funding from the Foundation for Excellence, in 2018 Rockwell received new playground equipment for 2-5- and 5-12-year-olds as well as new benches, swings, picnic tables, outdoor exercise equipment stations, and an asphalt walking path. The previous basketball court was removed, and a new basketball court was installed on the west side of the park near the tennis court. These improvements were based on community input, including input from Eastside youth on which playground equipment they would like best. In 2019, a new shelter was added to allow the Kzoo Parks SuperRec program to expand to Rockwell Park.

Rockwell Park is named after Ethel Rockwell who was a nationally known leisure time activist. Ethel served on the Kalamazoo Recreation Committee for several years.
