Summer Program Registration Now Open for City of Kalamazoo Residents

Registration for Kzoo Parks summer camps and programs is now open for Kalamazoo City residents. Registration is available online at www.kzooparks.org/programs or in person at the Kzoo Parks office (251 Mills St) Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Fridays by appointment. Registration will open for non-city residents on Monday, April 14. 

Kzoo Parks offers a variety of free and affordable summer programs for youth: 

  • Camp Kzoo - A summer day camp with 9 different weeks of special activities and trips for ages 5 (and completed kindergarten) to 12.  

  • Super Rec - A free summer day camp with fun activities and field trips at 5 sites in Kalamazoo for ages 7 to 12. 

  • All Things Possible - A free college and career exploration program for youth ages 13 to 15 that live in the city of Kalamazoo and are entering high school. Eligible participants can earn free drivers training if they complete the program and successfully pass 9th grade.  

  • Field Trip Fest - The perfect capstone to summer with a week of field trips and fun for ages 6 (and completed kindergarten) to 13. Two week-long sessions are offered in August.  

  • Counselor in Training (CIT) - A work experience program at Camp Kzoo and Super Rec summer camp sites for teens ages 13 to 17. CITs can have fun at summer camp while working alongside staff to assist campers with activities. CITs earn a stipend of up to $500 at the end of camp, based on the number of hours worked. 

  • Youth & Teen Creative Workshops - Free weekly workshops for youth and teens ages 10 to 18 to improve their skills in music, improv, poetry, and dance. These workshops are offered in partnership with the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre.  

  • Summer Strings – A youth music camp to reacquaint students in grades 5 to 12 with their instruments after the summer break from orchestra class.  

  • Disc Golf Clinic – Youth ages 10 to 17 can learn the basics of disc golf and practice basic throwing techniques at this beginner disc golf clinic. Each participant will get three discs to take home with them. 

There are also several Police Athletics and Activities League (PAL) programs offered this summer that are free to Kalamazoo City residents: 

  • Fishing with PAL – Teaching kids ages 12 to 18 the joy of fishing while fostering skills, patience, and a love for the outdoors.  

  • Kzoo PAL Sports Network (KSPN) - Youth ages 10 to 18 can learn communication, marketing and broadcasting skills, enabling them to be credible in the mainstream multi-media world.
