Registration for Kzoo Parks summer camps and programs is now open for Kalamazoo City residents. Registration is available online at www.kzooparks.org/programs or in person at the Kzoo Parks office (251 Mills St) Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Fridays by appointment. Registration will open for non-city residents on Monday, April 13.

Kzoo Parks offers a variety of free and affordable summer programs for youth:

  • Camp Kzoo - A summer day camp with 9 different weeks of special activities and trips for ages 5 (and completed kindergarten) to 12.
  • Super Rec - A free summer day camp for youth ages 7 to 12 that live in the city of Kalamazoo with fun activities and field trips at 5 sites in Kalamazoo.
  • All Things Possible - A free college and career exploration program for youth ages 13 to 15 that live in the city of Kalamazoo and are entering high school. Eligible participants can earn free drivers training if they complete the program and successfully pass 9th grade.
  • Field Trip Fest - The perfect capstone to summer with a week of field trips and fun for ages 6 (and completed kindergarten) to 13.
  • Counselor in Training (CIT) - A work experience program at Camp Kzoo and Super Rec summer camp sites for teens ages 13 to 17. CITs can have fun at summer camp while working alongside staff to assist campers with activities. CITs earn a stipend of up to $500 at the end of camp, based on the number of hours worked. Priority registration will be given to most recent Camp Kzoo & Super Rec campers to fill available CIT openings
  • Youth & Teen Creative Workshops - Free weekly workshops for youth and teens ages 10 to 18 to improve their skills in music, improv, poetry, and dance. These workshops are offered in partnership with the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre.
  • All Summer Orchestra – A weekly summer orchestra program for grades 5 to 9 to grow their orchestra skills, with a final concert at the end of the summer.

There are also several Police Athletics and Activities League (PAL) programs offered this summer:

  • Fishing with PAL – Teaching kids ages 11 to 18 the joy of fishing while fostering skills, patience, and a love for the outdoors.
  • Sports Training with PAL - Sports performance training program for ages 12 to 18 that builds speed and strength while teaching teamwork, discipline, and confidence.
  • PAL Junior Midnight Basketball League - Summer basketball league for Kalamazoo youth ages 13 to 18.
  • PAL Soccer League - Summer soccer league for youth ages 4 to 18 at Upjohn Park.

This year Super Rec, Camp Kzoo, and All Things Possible summer camps will shift to be one week later than usual. Super Rec and Camp Kzoo will still run for nine weeks from June 15 through August 14 and All Things Possible will still offer two four-week sessions, from June 15 to August 7. The adjusted schedule allows the three Kzoo Parks After School Programs to continue through the last day of school, rather than ending a week early for staff training.

You can find complete details on all Kzoo Parks programs at www.kzooparks.org/programs. Program assistance is also available through Kalamazoo Friends of Recreation for city of Kalamazoo residents. More information and applications are available at https://friendsofrec.org/apply/
