Kzoo Parks Summer Cinema Event Series Starts Friday, June 16

Kzoo Parks will show six free movies this year as part of its Summer Cinema event series.  Every year, Summer Cinema welcomes moviegoers to enjoy a night with family and friends, watching a movie under the stars in our City parks. Events are scheduled every other Friday starting June 16:

  • June 16 – U-Pick the Flick: Jurassic World at Spring Valley Park (2600 Mt Olivet Road)
    • Drive in Movie: The movie will be shown on the soccer field at the southeast end of the park. Guests can park on the field to watch the movie drive-in style or bring chairs and blankets to watch from the lawn.
  • June 30 – The Bad Guys at Kalamazoo Farmers Market (1204 Bank St)
    • Free face painting
  • July 14 – Air Bud at Fairmount Dog Park (1108 Prairie Avenue)
    • The SPCA will have adoptable animals, obstacle course demonstration, local vendors, and a photo booth.
  • July 28 – Vivo at Frays Park (4400 Canterbury Avenue)
    • Free face painting
  • August 11U-Pick the Flick at Spring Valley Park (2600 Mt Olivet Road)

    • U-Pick the Flick Movie Options: Mean Girls, Freaky Friday, Legally Blonde, or She’s the Man
  • August 25 – Inside Out at Frays Park (4400 Canterbury Avenue)
    • Free face painting

Two of the movies shown will be determined by popular vote. Viewers chose Jurassic World for the first U-Pick the Flick movie on June 16 and voting for the August 11 movie is open through July 27 here.

At each event the movie screen will be set up with music playing at 6 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7 p.m. Guests are welcome to settle into their spot and enjoy time in the park before the movie begins. Snacks will also be provided while supplies last. Summer Cinema events are free, and all community members are welcome.
