Kik Pool to open for Season on June 3

The Kik Pool located at Upjohn Park (1018 Walter Street) will open for the summer on Wednesday, June 3. The pool will be open daily for the season through Sunday, August 9, offering opportunities for residents of all ages to cool off, stay active, and enjoy summer.

Lap swim will be available seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Open swim hours will take place Monday through Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Season pool passes are currently available for purchase at the Kzoo Parks office (251 Mills St). Beginning June 3, both day and season passes will also be available for purchase at the pool. Day passes are $7 for adults ages 18 and above, $4 for youth ages 2 to 17, and free for kids under 2. Minors must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older while at the pool.

Season passes are also available for individuals and families. An Individual Season Pass is $100 for Kalamazoo city residents or $145 for non-residents. A Family Season Pass is $125 for Kalamazoo city residents or $170 for non-residents. A Family Season Pass includes up to six family members living at the same address.

In addition to swimming opportunities, Aqua Fitness classes will return to Kik Pool. Classes are open to adults ages 18 and older, as well youth accompanied by a participating adult, and will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., June 16 through July 30, excluding June 30 or July 2 due to instructor availability. Aqua fitness classes are included with a season pool pass or are $10 per session for drop ins.

The Kik Pool is also available to rent throughout the summer for group events and birthday parties. Community members interested in facility rentals can visit the Kzoo Parks office (251 Mills St) or call 311 or 337-8000 to learn more.

Residents looking for additional ways to cool off this summer can also visit the Florence Street Splash Pad (534 Florence St), LaCrone Park Splash Pad (535 W Paterson), and Woods Lake Beach (2900 Oakland Dr). Splash pads are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day with water features available daily between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Woods Lake Beach has regular park hours, open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset.
