World Migratory Bird Day Celebration

Join us for a day of celebrating the beauty and importance of birds! This event, hosted by Kzoo Parks and the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo, offers something for everyone—from nature lovers to bird enthusiasts. The theme for this year's World Migratory Bird Day is Citizen Science: "Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter".

Activities

  • 9:30 a.m. - Guided Bird Walk - Audubon Kzoo will lead an informative bird walk sharing details on local bird species and migratory patterns that shape their journeys. Bring your own binoculars or borrow a pair at the event!
  • 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. - Raptor Program - Live raptor program presented by Blandford Nature Center’s bird ambassadors
  • Nature Inspired Art MartLooking for a unique gift or piece of art? Nature-themed artwork will be available for sale from talented local artists like:

  • Crafts - There will also be crafts and hands-on activities, including a fun “Create Your Own Bird Feeder” activity! This is a great opportunity to get creative and take home something that will help attract local birds to your own backyard.

The event will also feature a variety of local organizations with informational and activity booths including:

We’re excited to also host the launch of the City of Kalamazoo’s ‘Buzz in the Zoo.’ Visit the City’s table to pick up a yard sign featuring the winning youth-created design and check out other submissions!
