Restrooms, water fountains, and vehicle gates at some City of Kalamazoo parks have closed for the fall and winter months and will reopen May 1 of next year. Parks will continue to be open year-round, daily from 8 a.m. to sunset.
Kalamazoo Youth Action Council (KYAC) provides input to Kzoo Parks regarding programs, activities, and events with the potential to expand to additional departments in the City. Serving on the council provides opportunities to network and make friends, develop leadership skills, learn about City government, and discover/join other youth councils and organizations to share their voice in the future of youth development in Kalamazoo.
The Council currently includes 13 members ages 13 to 18 years of age. Residing in the City of Kalamazoo is a requirement to join the council. The Council manages most aspects of its operations, including its rules, projects and goals, meeting schedule, and the number of members. The council meets bi-weekly, and a $250 stipend is paid to members that attend at least 75% of the meetings per year.
