Restrooms, water fountains, and vehicle gates at some City of Kalamazoo parks have closed for the fall and winter months and will reopen May 1 of next year. Parks will continue to be open year-round, daily from 8 a.m. to sunset.
Adults can learn historical longsword combat and techniques through introductory classes taught by the Swordsmanship Museum and Academy. The Museum will provide all necessary equipment (except an Athletic cup for male students). Athletic clothes are highly encouraged. Jeans and boots are not recommended. This class is an introduction to the fundamentals to cover the techniques and combat of the historical military saber as used by soldiers of the 18th and 19th centuries, and by modern practitioners of historical swordsmanship. Intro class, no experience needed.

Wednesdays | 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
This class is an introduction to historical swordsmanship, focusing on the Medieval Longsword. Students will learn the fundamentals of Longsword as practiced by Medieval and Renaissance Swordsmen, as well as an introduction to the world of HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts).

This class is a continuation of Longsword Level 1, and is open to graduates of any previous Longsword Level 1 classes.
