The pool opening was delayed after an issue with finding a new trainer to train the lifeguards hired for the season. As more lifeguards are trained, pool hours will be returned to normal, with regular hours expected to start on Wednesday, June 18. Staff are also looking into options for extending the end of the season, but that will depend on lifeguard availability.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to get this issue resolved. Opening with partial hours next week allows us to open the pool as soon as possible, while also getting our last group of lifeguards trained,” said Chad Wendt, Recreation Manager at Kzoo Parks. “We are also reviewing our training schedule and policies to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future. We know everyone is excited to jump in the pool and we’re working hard to get this solved so that we can all have a fun and safe pool season.”

Day passes can be purchased at the pool. Day passes are $7 for adults ages 18 and above, $4 for youth ages 2 to 17, and kids under 2 years old have free entry. Minors must be accompanied by an adult when visiting the pool.

Season pool passes are available for purchase at the Kzoo Parks office (251 Mills St) as well as the pool once it opens. Season passes are available for individuals, families, and youth. An Individual Season Pass is $95 for city residents or $140 for non-residents. A Family Season Pass is $120 for city residents or $165 for non-residents. A Family Season Pass includes up to six family members per address.

Aqua Fitness classes will be hosted at the pool by Just Move Fitness and More starting on Tuesday, June 17 for adults 18 and older and youth accompanied by a participating adult. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aqua Fitness classes are included in season passes to the pool or participants can purchase a $10 drop in pass, which also includes entry to the pool for that day.
