The Kalamazoo Farmers Market (1204 Bank Street) will open for the 2025 season on Saturday, May 3. The market offers the area’s freshest foods and handmade goods from over 150 local growers and makers. The market will be open every Saturday, May through October (7am to 1pm) and in November through the 22nd (8am to 1pm).

A mini weekday market will be available every Tuesday and Thursday (8am to 1pm) from June 3 through October 9. There will also be special Thursday night market events (5pm to 10pm) on June 19, July 17, August 21, and September 18. In addition to cash and card, the Market also accepts food assistance currencies like EBT/SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks.

The Market will be open as construction continues on the new Multipurpose Building located on site. Building construction is expected to be completed in October. While construction is underway, there will be some impacts to Bank Street and the Market’s parking areas.

During construction, the Market’s food truck area will be relocated to Bank Street. A portion of Bank Street next to the market will be closed during Saturday and night markets to provide space for food trucks. A short detour around the closed section of Bank Street will be posted.

Most of the south parking lot will also be closed due to construction. Parking will be available in the north parking lot, on nearby neighborhood streets, at Upjohn Park, and at the Edison Environmental Science Academy.

Biking to the farmers’ market is also great option. The Market is conveniently located on the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail and there are nearby bike lanes on Stockbridge Avenue, Portage Street, and Crosstown Parkway. The Market has plenty of bike parking available and residents who choose to bike can sign up for special incentives through the Bike Benefits program.

The building is the second phase of Market renovations and will serve as the Kzoo Parks main afterschool site and a summer Camp Kzoo site. The building will also include meeting space, have a commercial kitchen for demonstrations and cooking classes, and be able to host winter farmers’ markets. The Multipurpose building is an $6 million project funded by the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, State of Michigan, American Rescue Plan Act dollars, and Capital Improvement dollars.

“We’re so excited to kick off another great market season as we watch this new building come to life,” said Katelyn Bekken-Simpson, Kalamazoo Farmers Market Manager. “It’s going to be a great new community asset for youth programs, events, and a spot for the winter market. Please bear with us as we finish construction, the 2025 market season will still be great!”

In the meantime, the community can still visit the Kalamazoo Winter Market, which will run up until the outdoor market opens. The Kalamazoo Winter Market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the St. Joseph’s Church gym at 930 Lake Street, running through Saturday, April 26.
