Join us at Woods Lake for a free, family-friendly event where kids and their families can learn the basics of kayaking and explore the natural wonders of the Kalamazoo River Watershed! Hosted in partnership with the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council.
This hands-on outdoor experience is designed for families with kids ages 5 and up who are new to kayaking. In addition to time on the water, participants will rotate through interactive educational stations led by local environmental organizations, offering fun activities that connect kids with nature and science.
The event is structured as a rotating circuit. Children will be divided into small groups and take turns at each station, including guided kayaking instruction and nature-based learning experiences with our partner organizations. A mid-event snack break will give everyone a chance to relax and recharge.
Kzoo Parks will provide kayaks, and Mainstream Bait & Tackle will be providing canoes.
