City offices will be closed Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Offices will reopen Tuesday, July 5.
Kalamazoo Friends of Recreation is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to help Kalamazoo youth participate in recreation programs. Program assistance can be used for up to 75% of a program's total cost up to a maximum of $600 per year, per child.
Applications are valid from January 1 through December 31 and must be renewed every year.
Visit www.friendsofrec.org/apply to learn about program assistance, what's covered, who's eligible, and what the benefits are.
Complete the online application at www.friendsofrec.org/apply. The application will ask for information about your household, parents or guardians, and any children that are applying.
You will need to upload a copy of your driver's license to verify proof of City of Kalamazoo residency.
Apply for Program Assistance
Please allow up to four days for processing. You will be contacted after your application has been processed by telephone or to the email provided on the application. Program assistance is granted based on financial need and the available funding of the program.
To register using financial assistance, please visit the Kzoo Parks office at 251 Mills Street. Unfortunately, we are not able to process registrations using program assistance online.

You can complete a paper application while you're in the office and give it to our staff for processing.
