Restrooms, water fountains, and vehicle gates at some City of Kalamazoo parks have closed for the fall and winter months and will reopen May 1 of next year. Parks will continue to be open year-round, daily from 8 a.m. to sunset.
Kalamazoo Friends of Recreation is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to help Kalamazoo youth participate in recreation programs.
Program assistance can be used by Kalamazoo City residents to cover either 50% or 100% of a program's total cost depending on income.
Assistance is available on a first come, first serve basis per child, per year as funds are available. Applications are valid from January 1 through December 31 and must be renewed every year.

The application will ask for information about your household, neighborhood, parents or guardians, and any children that are applying.
You will need to upload a copy of your driver's license to verify proof of City of Kalamazoo residency, provide proof of income, and complete a self certification of annual income form.
Please allow up to five days for processing. You will be contacted after your application has been processed by telephone or to the email provided on the application. Program assistance is granted based on financial need and the available funding of the program.
To register using financial assistance, you can visit the Kzoo Parks office at 251 Mills Street or sign up online on Civic Rec. Once approved, program assistance will be automatically applied to your Civic Rec account.

Visit the Kzoo Parks office at Mayors' Riverfront Park (251 Mills Street) during business hours.
You can complete a paper application while you're in the office and give it to our staff for processing.
