Restrooms, water fountains, and vehicle gates at some City of Kalamazoo parks have closed for the fall and winter months and will reopen May 1 of next year. Parks will continue to be open year-round, daily from 8 a.m. to sunset.
Verburg Park is a great park for the outdoor enthusiast. With nearly 10 acres, Verburg has plenty of grassy open areas plus a grill, swing set, and grass surface basketball court. Verburg is bordered by the Kalamazoo River and is a great spot for fishing or launching a kayak or canoe in a small lagoon off the river. The Kalamazoo Valley River Trail also runs through the length of the park offering a nice smooth walking or biking experience and connecting to downtown and other parks and amenities. Parking is available at the north end of the park off East Paterson.
Verburg Park is named after City Alderman and Mayor Cornelius Verburg.
