Lunchtime Live! presented by Lake Michigan Credit Union offers live music, games, food, and fun every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Bronson Park.

This summer event series will kick off for the 2023 season on Friday, June 14 and continue through Friday, August 30.

Food and retail will be available for purchase. Food trucks will be lined up along Bronson Park on South Street and other vendors will be set up throughout the park. Each week will feature a different local musical artist.

This is a free event, and all community members are welcome.

June 14 - Macy Krew

Macy Krew

Macy Krew is a singer-songwriter out of Nashville, TN, originally born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI.  You might recognize her from American Idol, where she made it to Hollywood. She sings country pop music and has been compared to the likes of Kelsea Ballerini and Carly Pearce.  Her debut music to country radio has made a large first impact in the music industry.

She’s been featured on Spotify's biggest country playlists, CMT, and the Kelly Clarkson show. She was also recognized as “the next big artist” by the Women of Country and All Country News. June 21 - Abbigale Rose

Abbigale Rose

Ohio native Abbigale has been in love with singing since childhood. Now a vocalist/guitarist/entertainer, she plays a wide range of covers from the spanning 60 years of music, bringing new arrangements to familiar melodies from the past, as well as composing original songs.

A third-generation singer and entertainer, Abbigale is a fixture with notable bands from Detroit, like Moose & Da Sharks and Benny & The Jets; and of course, she releases her own work during her hundreds of solo performances every year. Her voice styling is often noted as having a crossover country/pop/blues quality. Abbigale is nominated as Outstanding Rock/Pop Vocalist in the 2019, 2020, & 2021 Detroit Music Awards and Outstanding Live Performance, as well as being voted Best Singer and Best Blues/Jazz Artist in the 2019 Best of Toledo Awards.

The Iconix is more than just a cover band; they are musical storytellers, weaving a tapestry of nostalgia and contemporary flair. Their setlist features carefully curated hits from legendary artists, paying homage to the musical evolution of the past five decades. The Iconix masterfully bridges the gap between generations, ensuring pure musical enjoyment.

July 5 - The Dirty Rain Revelers

The Dirty Rain Revelers

The Dirty Rain Revelers consist of husband/wife duo, Matthew and Melissa DeOrazio, both on guitars and vocals.  The music they make has a kinetic energy that connects to roots and blues, and weaves in the human experience through the songs they share.   Both lifelong musicians, they’ve been playing together for 16 years under various guises and lineups.

To date, they’ve recorded five albums, toured nationally, performed at various festivals, built a home recording studio, and established their own music publishing company. They have appeared three times on the television series NCIS: New Orleans, together with working on soundtracks and background music for several other productions. Their latest album (Live from the Porch) was born out of pandemic life and the live-streams they shared from their New Orleans porch.  

July 12 - Pinter Whitnick

Pinter Whitnick

Forming in a small studio apartment in Detroit, Pinter Whitnick spent 2020 distilling their favorite songs down into duo-sized versions. While Kayleigh played bass and sang, Alex added guitar, keys, vocals, and foot percussion. The result was an 80s/90s duo with a full-band sound. Since then, Pinter Whitnick has taken their unique style to venues across the Mitten, turning back the clock and taking listeners on a sonic journey.

 

July 19 - Kanola Band

Kanola Band 

Kanola Band brings together some of the most experienced and diverse musicians in the midwest US jazz scene to pay tribute to the great music and heritage of New Orleans. Dipping into the city's diverse musical history including traditional Dixieland, groovin' zydeco, soulful funk to blasting brass band second lines, audiences of all ages will leave feeling just a bit happier than when they came. Bring your dancing shoes, leave your worries behind and be ready for some fun, because Kanola Band is always a good time!

Playing at a range of venues, Kanola adapts amazingly to their surroundings and audiences. They have played in clubs to dancing audiences, opened for national touring acts in theatres, presented educational clinic performances at middle & high schools, in addition to major universities, and have performed at outdoor festivals. Wherever Kanola brings their infectiously fun music, the consensus is the same - the audience is “with them”! In other words, engaged, entertained, and excited.

July 26 - Shelagh Brown Band

With her parent's recording studio in her home, Shelagh has grown up with music her entire life. Shelagh's music has something for everyone with eclectic tunes from her roots in country to pop and everything in between. 

August 2 - Matt Gabriel

Matt Gabriel is a Singer/Songwriter who has spent over a decade writing and touring. His latest record "Earth Tones" is a thoughtful blend of Pop and Americana. Listening feels like a road trip that starts at the California coastline and ends in the hills of North Carolina. Warm, honest, and welcoming, It invites you to ride shotgun across all the great American genres.

August 9 - i.am.james

i.am.james

Born and raised on the coast of Lake Michigan, songwriter Sierra Cassidy, grew up performing in an arts-driven community. Growing up with a taste for folk and roots music, she played both locally and nationally renowned venues as a solo singer-songwriter. After graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy, Sierra attended Berklee College of Music in both Boston, MA and Valencia, Spain.  She became defining her sound and artistry as she dove into a world of not only writing and performance, but also recording and production of her own work.

Since releasing her first single in 2017, Sierra has stepped into the role of the emblem "i.am.james." Her music has been noted as "heart-ache to dance to," and "left of center pop," drawing influences from both her upbringing in folk music and her affinity for contemporary pop music.  Now based in Nashville, i.am.james. shares her songs on stages both locally and nationally, while keeping her Michigan-roots alive. Performance highlights include: City Opera House (Traverse City, MI, 2014), Uncommon Ground (Chicago, IL, 2015), Un Lagos de Conciertos (Valencia, Spain, 2016), The End (Nashville, TN, 2018), Rockwood Music Hall (New York, New York, 2019), Listening Room (Grand Rapids, MI, 2022).

August 16 - Youth & Teen Talent Show

Kzoo Parks and the Kalamazoo Civic are excited to host a Youth & Teen Talent Show at the August 16 Lunchtime Live event. Youth and teens can participate in the talent show with music, dance, comedy performances, and more! The show will be hosted by Von Washington Jr. the Executive Director of Community Relations for the Kalamazoo Promise. 

August 23 - Dylan Tolbert

Dylan Tolbert 

Dylan Tolbert is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Kalamazoo, Michigan. He grew up in Three Rivers, Michigan where his love for music started. Over the span of 20 years Dylan has learned to play drums, piano, guitar, and violin. Putting his own style on classic songs with soulful grooves and creating tunes of his own is the driving force of every show. March 29, 2021 was the release of Tolbert’s debut album, Tolbert Drive. August 30 - Grace Theisen

Grace Theisen

Grace Theisen is an Americana/Blues artist originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. She has opened for Emmylou Harris, played the infamous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville TN, and opened for Matthew Perryman Jones at The Nashville City Winery. Grace won Cari Cole's Best New Artist of 2021 and was named "Artist To Watch" by Michigan's Local Spins media outlet in January 2022. In March 2022, she released her 3rd EP, Dance With the Shadows. This record was produced by Jake Rye of the Social Recording Company and is a mix of Americana, Blues, and Pop.
