Lunchtime Live! presented by Lake Michigan Credit Union offers live music, games, food, and fun every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Bronson Park.

This summer event series will kick off for the 2023 season on Friday, June 9 and continue through Friday, September 1.

Food and retail will be available for purchase. Food trucks will be lined up along Bronson Park on South Street and other vendors will be set up throughout the park. Each week will feature a different local musical artist.

This is a free event, and all community members are welcome.

June 9 - Kaitlin Rose

Kaitlin Rose

Kaitlin has been playing guitar and writing songs since the summer of 2001 after finding her mom's Alvarez in the hallway closet.  By the end of the day, she taught herself the theme song to The Godfather, which made her Italian grandmother very proud. Since then, Kaitlin has recorded four full length solo-albums in various basements and attics of friends and family members including All My Roses, Sentience, The Ideal and Organic Travels. Her one-of-a-kind vocals make her stand out from vocalist. 

June 16 - Out of Favor Boys

Attendees will love their interaction as the saxophonist and lead guitarist roams the crowd jamming.

Since coming together in 2003 the Out of Favor Boys have emerged as one of the most entertaining bands in Michigan. They regularly play festivals and concerts from the Michigan lakeshore to Detroit and from Grand rapids to Northern Indian. OOFB have played with national acts like Tab Benoit, Larry McCray, Eric Lindell, Watermelon Slim and many more. Featuring funky rhythms, searing guitar and blazing saxophone lines the quintet brings incredible energy to every show they play. Their high energy sets features original songs but also include many cover favorites like Albert Collins and BB Kings. The OOFB put on a show sure to be enjoyed by contemporary and traditional blues and funk lovers and anyone who appreciates great live music.

June 23 - Kanola Band


Kanola Band 

Kanola Band brings together some of the most experienced and diverse musicians in the midwest US jazz scene to pay tribute to the great music and heritage of New Orleans. Dipping into the city's diverse musical history including traditional Dixieland, groovin' zydeco, soulful funk to blasting brass band second lines, audiences of all ages will leave feeling just a bit happier than when they came. Bring your dancing shoes, leave your worries behind and be ready for some fun, because Kanola Band is always a good time!

Kanola Band is a collective of musicians and the size of the group playing depends on the occasion at hand. You’ll usually see some sort of conglomeration of the following talented folks:  
Benje Daneman (trumpet & vocals), Seth Ebersole (woodwinds), Nathan Durham (trombone), Ashley Daneman (vocals), Matthew Fries (keys), Rufus Ferguson (keys & guitar), Chance Trottman-Huiet (tuba), Jeff Moehle (drums & vocals)

June 30 - Dylan Tolbert


Dylan Tolbert 

Dylan Tolbert is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Kalamazoo, Michigan. He grew up in Three Rivers, Michigan where his love for music started. Over the span of 20 years Dylan has learned to play drums, piano, guitar, and violin. Putting his own style on classic songs with soulful grooves and creating tunes of his own is the driving force of every show. March 29, 2021 was the release of Tolbert’s debut album, Tolbert Drive. July 7 - Allie Garland & Sean Gibson

Allie, a 21-year-old student, at Albion College School of Music is a multi-talented musician. Allie is known for her outstanding vocal and at a typical Allie Garland's show you might hear her playing the drums, guitar, bass guitars, keyboards or even the saxophone.  Allie as a freshman was name first chair for the Albion College band a chair almost always reserved for a senior. Allie has won many awards including Best Performance at the Albion's Walk the Beat 2017, Outstanding Singer-Songwriter at the Bohm Theater 2018 and the Winner of Battle Creek's Taste of Talent 2018. 

A typical Allie Garland show will take you on a musical cruise featuring Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steve Miller Band, Guns N’ Roses, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Pharrell Williams, Neil Diamond, Bill Withers, Lionel Richie to name a few. You name it Allie can probably play it which works out great when Allie opens her performance to the all-request portion.

July 14 - Serita's Black Rose


Serita’s Black Rose | Funk / Blues / Neo-Soul

A self-professed “Funkateer”, Serita Crowley of Serita’s Black Rose from Grand Rapids, Michigan brings a raucous mix of FUNK, ROCK, BLUES, NEO-SOUL, and AMERICANA. Serita, along with her partner Jon Hayes are at it’s core, performing together for nearly two decades. As an acoustic duo, they play much of the timeless “feel good music” from the 60’s and 70’s that everyone can enjoy. Her fiery, blues- and soul-infused vocals will shake the ground beneath your feet. Serita picks her music like she cooks her food, -it has to be to her taste, and it tastes good! Take a big bite, and it will fuel your soul!

July 21 - Sophia McIntosh


Sophia McIntosh Singer / Song Writer

Nashville Recording Artist Sophia McIntosh was born and raised into a musical family. As a result, Sophia has been singing and performing since she was very young. At age fourteen, she is an accomplished Singer Songwriter and pianist with maturity well beyond her years. Sophia’s vocal range extends five octaves with her greatest strength in the upper register. Industry leaders describe her tone as similar to Adele or Lauren Daigle. When she sings, people listen. Her originals are fresh, talented pop music with very seasoned vocals. 

July 28 - The Incantations [Canceled due to weather]


The Incantations

 The Kalamazoo-based band, the Incantations, weave a delicate tapestry of dark and light, twisting together the elements of blues, rock, and folk music that define Americana. Lisa Mackie and Ryan Gladding conjures up evocative lyrics that etch an indelible mark in your memory and melodies that resonate long after the last note has been played. The music that they summon is a powerful reflection from the roads they have traveled.

August 4 - The Kennedy Affair


The Kennedy Affair

The Kennedy Affair trio has a Texas blues feel with a taste of R&B and soul.  This memorable band is fronted by Matt Kennedy.  Matt Kennedy is a Nevada and Las Vegas blues veteran, whose vibe is described as raw and hardcore.  He aims to make you really feel his music, not just to simply listen!

August 11 - Shelagh Brown Band


Shelagh Brown Band

With her parent's recording studio in her home, Shelagh has grown up with music her entire life. Shelagh's music has something for everyone with eclectic tunes from her roots in country to pop and everything in between. 

August 18 - Youth & Teen Talent Show

Kzoo Parks and the Kalamazoo Civic are excited to host a Youth & Teen Talent Show at the August 18 Lunchtime Live event. Youth and teens can participate in the talent show with music, dance, comedy performances, and more! The show will be hosted by Von Washington Jr. the Executive Director of Community Relations for the Kalamazoo Promise. 

August 25 - Ben Traverse


Ben Traverse 

Ben Traverse is a Grand Rapids, MI-based traditional folk singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and member of the Earthwork Music Collective. Digging deep into the repertoire of American and Celtic folk music, Traverse brings a unique, youthful enthusiasm to an old and rich musical tradition.

“Ben is the modern day Pete Seeger. He’s a musical archeologist who writes songs that sound like they’re from a hundred years ago.” -The Accidentals

September 1 - Grace Theisen


Grace Theisen

Grace Theisen is an Americana/Blues artist originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. She has opened for Emmylou Harris, played the infamous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville TN, and opened for Matthew Perryman Jones at The Nashville City Winery. Grace won Cari Cole's Best New Artist of 2021 and was named "Artist To Watch" by Michigan's Local Spins media outlet in January 2022. In March 2022, she released her 3rd EP, Dance With the Shadows. This record was produced by Jake Rye of the Social Recording Company and is a mix of Americana, Blues, and Pop. She was also named by Revue as one of the "Top 10 Bands Heating Up The Summer" in 2022.
