Park Rules

Visitors to Kalamazoo's city parks are required to follow a few simple rules to make sure everyone can enjoy them. Make sure you know the rules and are always courteous and respectful to other park visitors and any Kzoo Parks staff.

  • Parks are open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset
  • Parks remain open year round, however vehicle gates at some parks close on October 1 until May.
  • Restrooms and water fountains are open Memorial Day through Labor Day (they may be available by request outside of this window for approved events, if possible).
  • Always be respectful to other park visitors, park property, and facilities.
  • Help keep our parks beautiful by disposing of trash properly in trash bins. If you see litter, lend a hand and toss it in a bin.
  • Fires are only permitted for grilling food and only in provided picnic grills.
  • Vehicles are only permitted in designated parking areas or roadways.
  • Trees, wood, or plants cannot be removed.
  • Pets must be kept on a six foot leash.
  • Alcohol is not permitted.
  • No loud music please.
  • If someone is not following these rules or acting in a way that is creating danger for park users or damaging park property, please contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at (269) 488-8911. In an emergency, always call 911.
