Community Invited to Celebrate Improvements at Reed Street Park on September 29
Event will include ribbon cutting and free throw contest
Kzoo Parks will host a celebration event at Reed Street Park (1700 Portage Street) on Wednesday, September 29 to highlight recent park improvements. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. and include a ribbon cutting, remarks, and a free throw contest with prizes. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
With funding from the Foundation for Excellence and input from neighborhood residents, the City of Kalamazoo completely renovated Reed Street Park in 2019. The projected included new playground equipment, a walking path, a shelter with tables, a basketball court, exercise equipment, and bike racks.
“This project transformed Reed Street Park into a place the neighborhood can be proud of,” explained Sean Fletcher, Kzoo Parks Director. “Friends and families can meet, kids can play safely, and neighbors of all ages can stay active. We appreciate the community feedback that made this project possible, as well as the support from the Foundation for Excellence. We hope you will join us to celebrate this park on September 29!”
This event was originally planned for 2020 but was rescheduled due to COVID-19. Attendees should remain cautious and follow CDC and local health official guidelines to protect themselves and the community from COVID-19. This event is free, and all community members are welcome.
