Kzoo Parks is excited to announce that the Fairmount Dog Park located at 1108 N Prairie Street is now available free of charge. The park is open to everyone from 8 a.m. to sunset without requiring any application, admission fees, or key card access.

Previously, dog owners were required to register their pets, pay a membership fee, and use a key fob to gain access. These requirements have been eliminated to encourage community members to take advantage of this community resource. All dogs will continue to be required to have a valid Kalamazoo County dog license and have up-to-date rabies, distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations.

“We want to make sure that this amenity is available to everyone in our community,” stated Sean Fletcher, the Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Kalamazoo. “We are really happy to be able to remove all of the membership costs for Fairmount Dog Park and make it available community members and their pets for free”.

Fairmount Dog Park is the result of a collaborative effort that began in 2004 between the Fairmount Neighborhood, MRC Industries, the Kalamazoo Humane Society, community volunteers, and the City of Kalamazoo. The park has two off- leash areas, one of which is reserved for smaller dogs, and a watering hole. Benches, picnic tables, and a small pavilion are also available.
